Kandiyohi County Leachate project wins awards!

A big congratulations goes out to the Kandiyohi County Landfill Leachate project!  It won top honors at the 2016 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Engineering Excellence Honor Awards on Friday night, January 29, 2016.Award photo-1-29-16-smaller

Clark Engineering won a Grand Award and the Grand Conceptor Award for the Kandiyohi County Landfill Leachate Treatment system put in place last year.  Apex Efficiency Solutions teamed up with Clark Engineering, Clark Technology and the county on this project to install the innovative technology inside the county landfill that filters out hazardous chemicals from toxic water collected at the landfill (called leachate). The technology saves the county money and is much friendlier to the environment.

“We are honored that our team has been awarded an Engineering Excellence Award for the Kandiyohi County Leachate Treatment project,” said Greg Ackerson, CEO of Apex Efficiency Solutions. Apex oversaw construction of the project. “It is always very motivating and a bit humbling to be recognized in such a prestigious manner.  We are grateful that we were able to participate in this project and contribute to its success.”

The project was completed in the fall of 2015 and now saves the county from trucking millions of gallons of leachate to the local waste water treatment plant each year.   “We are excited about the potential this technology and solution has for the waste management industry and the revolutionary way that it treats leachate,” Ackerson says. “We also want to thank our technology and solution partner, Clark Engineering and to a great client who had the vision to adopt a superior, uncommon solution, and the courage to march forward and approve the project.”
