City of Lakeville

New Low-E Ceiling

New Low-E Ceiling

Challenge

The City of Lakeville was facing the need for drastic updates in their outdated Ames and Hasse Arenas, including the replacement of their R-22 system with Ammonia system at Ames Arena and looking at the deferred maintenance challenges they were facing for both facilities.

The goal of this project was to update the facilities to run as efficiently as possible and make them compliant with environmental regulations for years to come.

Our Solution

The City chose from measures such as energy efficient lighting, heating and cooling systems, controls systems and more. Some of the efficiency efforts throughout the arenas included:

  • New building lighting

  • Buildings envelope solutions

  • HVAC Systems and controls upgraded and set

  • New Low-E ceilings installed above the ice rinks

  • Building addition to Ames Arena, including a new NHL-size rink

  • New Dasher Board installed

  • Boiler plant and Dehumidification replacements

  • R-22 system replaced with an ammonia system at Ames

Final Result

The skating community and others who use the rink are pleased with the updates made to the facilities, including the new NHL-size, refrigerated, year-round ice rink. The project is expected to save the City almost $75,000 per year.
